Yesterday, Apple updated its vintage products list, adding the 2018 Mac mini and the iPhone 6s to the roster. As these devices are now considered vintage, they will receive more limited service and repairs moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The iPhone 6s<\/a>, which initially launched in 2015, was sold until 2018 as a low-cost model, which is why it has only now been added to the vintage list. The device featured Apple\u2019s A9 chip, a strengthened aluminum chassis to address the “bendgate” issue from the iPhone 6, and was the first iPhone to include 3D Touch. Notably, it was also the last flagship iPhone to include the headphone jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2018 Mac mini<\/a> marked the last model before Apple transitioned to Apple Silicon. It was powered by Intel\u2019s “Coffee Lake” chipset, with both 4-core and 6-core options, and came with Intel UHD Graphics 630.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A product is considered “vintage” five years after it was last sold by Apple. For vintage devices, Apple retail stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs) can still offer repairs, but only if the required parts are available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once a product reaches seven years after its last sale, it is classified as “obsolete”, at which point Apple typically discontinues repairs and no longer provides parts for those devices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
