The Ezviz S6<\/a> was a clever little budget camera in 2019. In 2026, it\u2019s a relic. For almost everyone, even a cheap used modern camera will run circles around it. The only time the S6 makes sense is if you find one for pocket change and your expectations are near zero.<\/p>\n\n\n

Image quality and low light<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s sensors are in a different universe. The DJI Osmo Action 6 uses a 1\/1.1-inch sensor, the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 a 1\/1.3-inch, and the GoPro HERO13 Black a larger design than anything from 2019. They deliver real detail, usable dynamic range, and clean footage in dim light. The S6\u2019s tiny, dated sensor produces soft, noisy images the moment the light drops. Even at its best 4K\/30, detail doesn\u2019t come close. Modern cameras also shoot 8K, 5.3K, or high-bitrate 4K\/120, giving you far more flexibility. The S6 tops out at 4K\/30. That\u2019s a dead end for cropping or slow motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stabilization<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Basic electronic stabilization with a gyro was passable in 2019. Now it looks jittery and unnatural. Current flagships offer gimbal-like smoothness with horizon lock. GoPro\u2019s HyperSmooth 6.0, DJI\u2019s RockSteady 3.0+ and HorizonSteady, and Insta360\u2019s FlowState all keep the footage level no matter how you twist the camera. The S6 simply cannot produce smooth, horizon-leveled video \u2014 a dealbreaker for any action use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battery life and durability<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The S6 gave you roughly 100 minutes of 4K\/30. Modern cameras match or beat that at higher resolutions and frame rates, and can stretch much longer in efficient modes. The DJI Action 6, for example, can run up to around four hours in lighter settings. Batteries have also gotten better in the cold, something the S6 never handled well. And for waterproofing, the S6 needs a bulky external case to go beyond a splash. DJI\u2019s Action 6 is waterproof to 20 meters natively. You just grab and go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Screens, software, and support<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The S6 has a single small touchscreen. Modern cameras use dual OLED screens that are bright, responsive, and far more useful for framing and vlogging \u2014 including the flip-up screen on the Ace Pro 2. App support for the S6 is effectively dead. Firmware updates are nonexistent. DJI<\/a>, GoPro<\/a>, and Insta360<\/a>, by contrast, regularly push out new features, better color profiles, 10-bit log recording, and AI-driven editing tools.
