Apple Unveils MacBook Pro and Vision Pro with New M5 Chip Boosting AI and Graphics Performance

Apple has introduced the updated MacBook Pro and Vision Pro, both powered by the new M5 chip. The processor delivers more than four times the peak GPU compute performance for AI tasks compared to the previous M4, with a dedicated Neural Accelerator integrated into each GPU core.

Manufactured using third-generation 3 nm technology, the M5 features a 10-core CPU with four performance cores and six efficiency cores. Apple claims these performance cores are the fastest currently available, offering up to 15% better multithreaded performance than the M4.

The M5 increases memory bandwidth by nearly 30% to 153 GB/s and supports up to 32 GB of unified memory. Overall graphics performance improves by 45%. According to Apple, every compute unit in the chip has been optimized for AI processing, enabling faster execution of tasks such as diffusion model rendering and running large language models locally.

A redesigned ray-tracing engine delivers up to 45% better performance, while a second-generation dynamic caching system enhances GPU efficiency. Together, these upgrades aim to provide smoother gameplay, more realistic 3D visuals, and faster rendering in graphics-intensive applications.
