Apple Wallet Now Supports Digital IDs in West Virginia, Expanding Availability Across the U.S.

Residents in select U.S. states can add their driver’s license or state ID to the Wallet app on the iPhone and Apple Watch, allowing digital proof of identity or age at participating airports, businesses, and apps.

The feature is now available to residents of West Virginia. To add an ID, users can open the Wallet app, tap the plus icon in the top-right corner, select Driver’s License or State ID, and follow the on-screen instructions.

The feature requires an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16.5 or newer, or an Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 9.5 or newer.

Driver’s licenses and state IDs in Apple Wallet are currently supported in the following locations:

  • Arizona
  • Maryland
  • Colorado
  • Georgia
  • Ohio
  • Hawaii
  • California
  • Iowa
  • New Mexico
  • Montana
  • North Dakota
  • West Virginia
  • Puerto Rico

Upcoming States

The following states have announced plans to support the feature in the future:

  • Connecticut
