INNO Instrument fusion splicers rely on removable lithium-ion battery packs. Even when the unit itself is running smoothly, work in the field grinds to a halt the moment the battery dies. Understanding typical runtimes, replacement options, and early warning signs can keep field crews from losing a full workday.

Typical Battery Pack Lifespan

Runtime is measured in splice-and-heat cycles rather than hours. The figures below come from INNO spec sheets and serve as a general reference:

  • Small battery packs (approx. 3,000–3,500 mAh): Around 200 cycles per full charge
  • Medium battery packs (approx. 4,200 mAh): Around 170 cycles
  • High-capacity battery packs (5,200 mAh): Up to roughly 300 cycles
  • Flagship battery packs (approx. 9,000 mAh, common in the View 7 series): Typically 355 cycles (INNO claims that under ideal conditions, certain 9,000 mAh packs can reach up to 500 cycles)

Most battery packs last two to three years or roughly 300 to 500 charge cycles. It is best to recharge when the battery gauge hits 20% to 30% rather than draining it completely.

Can the Battery Be Replaced?

Yes. INNO battery packs are field-replaceable modules, including models like the LBT-20, LBT-40, LBT-52, FFLBT-50, and similar variants. For long-term storage, remove the battery pack, keep its charge level at around 50%, store it in a cool, dry place, and top it off once a month.

Signs Your Battery Pack Needs Replacement

If the unit has been sitting unused for a long time, try doing a full discharge and recharge to refresh the battery. If runtime issues persist, the pack has reached the end of its service life.

Cold weather can also prevent lithium batteries from operating properly. If you are working in low temperatures, let the equipment warm up and test it again before ordering replacement parts. If swapping in a new battery pack restores normal operation, the old battery was the problem.
