Huawei has officially launched its latest flagship wireless earbuds, the FreeBuds Pro 5, in global markets. The new model features a more refined design, enhanced noise cancellation, and expanded support for high-resolution audio.

The FreeBuds Pro 5 comes with an oval-shaped charging case, while the earbuds themselves feature a distinctive star-diamond cut finish. The stems are accented with a subtle gold ring engraved with the HUAWEI SOUND branding, reinforcing their premium positioning. Each earbud weighs 5.5 grams and measures 29.1 × 21.8 × 23.7 mm, while the charging case weighs 43 grams and measures 65.50 × 46.70 × 22.98 mm. Globally, the earbuds are available in Snow White, Frost Silver, Sky Blue, and Gold.

Audio performance is driven by a dual-driver system that combines an ultra-linear dual-magnetic bass driver with an ultra-thin micro-planar tweeter. Huawei claims the bass driver can reach frequencies as low as 10Hz for deeper low-end response, while the tweeter extends up to 48kHz, ensuring clear and detailed high frequencies.
The earbuds also feature a dual-driver, dual-channel active noise cancellation system that reduces ambient noise by generating inverse sound waves. According to Huawei, this upgraded system delivers up to three times better noise reduction compared to the previous generation. The Kirin A3 chipset handles environmental noise processing and works alongside improved microphones to ensure clear voice calls. Huawei states that call quality remains stable even in environments with noise levels up to 100 dB and wind speeds of 10 meters per second.
For users who want to remain aware of their surroundings, an Alert Mode allows important external sounds to pass through without fully disabling noise cancellation.
As a flagship product, the FreeBuds Pro 5 supports AAC, SBC, LDAC, and L2HC audio codecs. It also incorporates Huawei’s proprietary NearLink technology, which enables lossless audio transmission speeds of up to 4.6 Mbps on supported devices.

Battery life is also competitive. Each earbud includes a 60mAh battery, while the charging case holds a 537mAh battery. Huawei claims up to 9 hours of playback with noise cancellation disabled, or around 6 hours with ANC enabled.
Durability is another strong point, with the FreeBuds Pro 5 carrying an IP67 dust and water resistance rating—making it more rugged than many competing premium earbuds.
The FreeBuds Pro 5 is priced at €199 or £180, with a limited-time €30 or £30 discount available through Huawei’s official online store.
