vivo Y500 Debuts in China With 8,200mAh Battery

The vivo Y500 has been officially introduced in China, joining the brand’s best-selling Y-series lineup. The device features an 8,200mAh silicon-carbon battery, IP68/IP69 certification for water and dust resistance, and the Dimensity 7300 chipset.

The Y500 is designed for durability, withstanding water submersion at depths of 1.5 meters for over 24 hours, pressurized water jets, and temperatures up to 80°C. It incorporates a 360-degree drop cushioning system with internal shock absorbers and Diamond Shield glass protection for its 6.77-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display.

The battery offers an energy density of 847Wh/L and is rated for over 18.4 hours of continuous use. It supports 90W wired charging with 24-layer protection against excessive current, voltage, and heat.

The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the device carries an 8MP camera housed in a punch-hole cutout. The Y500 runs OriginOS 5 based on Android 15.

Color options include Glacier Blue, Dragon Crystal Powder, and Black. Pricing starts at CNY 1,399 ($196) for the 8GB/128GB version, with the top 12GB/512GB model at CNY 1,999 ($280). Open sales in China begin September 5. Global availability has not been confirmed.
